Monolith
By Elijah Rhyne and River Doyle
The Monolith is designed as a way for people to de-stress and be swept away into a whole new musical experience music. It has a mysterious feel to it, sort of calling you in through it’s strange and alien shape and the LEDs. The idea is that some stressed out college kid would get curious enough to walk up to it and as they got close the LED would turn on revealing what looked to be a control panel and it would start emitting a low humming. Then as they put their hand to the control panel they would feel the vibrations and would try to find out how they could manipulate them.

These projects were based off of the Listening Rooms studio. The goal of that studio was to create spaces for expression of music and to reimagine the concept of "venue". These projects accomplished this by recontextualizing the spacial and interactive qualities of a venue.
Listening Rooms
This mystical monolith creates generative music through touch using neural-plasticity. It entices the user to explore and figure out how it works through it's alien shape and reactive lighting.
